ABOUT

THE ORIGIN OF AFTER SCHOOL

AFTER SCHOOL was born in a landscape architecture course, studying the Los Angeles river dam system. While the class was about infrastructure, I fell in love with the ugly sketch - the architect's process of conveying raw information through messy silhouettes.

I was a Theater major, but I learned more about art in the dirt of the LA River than on a stage. It was about exploration. It was about being a kid again.

THE FACE

Our lead artifact is a sketch of filmmaker RaMell Ross. Drawn intuitively from a magazine cover, it was never meant to be conventionally attractive. It was an observation of a face that felt familiar - like a memory of my father.

It is expressive, explorative, and detailed. It is the face of AFTER SCHOOL.

afterschool.ink is an extension of asiadorseyfilm.com. It is an archive of the sketches that were never meant to be perfect.
